Project Description : The City of Darkness documents the last 4 years of the infamous Kowloon Walled City before it was razed in 1992. The first edition became a surprise hit in the architectural world as architects and city planners marveled at how this mini-city grew to house 35,000 people without any urban planning whatsoever.
Hwang Concepts designed the cover for the second print edition, using black and white imagery on the front cover to convey a feeling of the past, as the Walled City no longer exists, and also to show the grittiness of this “lost” city.
The back cover image, in color, is of a lone man shuffling through one of the many dirty, dark alleyways that used to connect the buildings of the community.> City_of_Darkness > > Designs
